| Small
loans for Poor Pastors/Entrepreneurs
Start
a Small Business with a Cow- Pastors in the mission
field are in desperate need of a consistence income
on a monthly basis. Their congregations consist
of the poorest of the poor, who cannot provide the
pastor with a sustaining income for his family.
In order to support a pastor, we must provide them
with $60 a month, which covers his family’s living
expenses and all ministry funds. By providing a
pastor with a dairy cow he is able to meet these
financial demands by selling its milk, which gives
him the opportunity to direct his undivided attention
on the needs of his congregation.
A
cow will produce eight to ten liters of milk everyday,
which can be sold for ten Rupees (23 cents) per
liter and all together supplies the pastor with
the $60 a month he needs. Plus the cow can produce
eight to nine calves in its lifetime, which can
also be used for financial support also.
Here’s
how it works: A cow costs $275, so we loan a pastor
the money for the cow. Then the pastor pays back
the loan over eighteen months and is committed to
giving us the first born female calf. So by loaning
him the money we are supporting the pastor, helping
him start a business, and receiving our money back
to start over with another pastor.
